- I know I haven't updated this site much at all. I would really like to update it more regularly, but those of you who know me know that I tend to procrastinate (my big word for the day) when it comes to updating this site. It's only been, what, 7 months? Okay, Okay... I know.
- CaptainPicky sent me an email a while back, and I thought I would share it with anyone who might happen along. I was having problems in WarZone last time I was there. Here's what he had to say:
  
  Remember you couldn't get your connection set up? Well, we just got a new update in the WZ. Come on in and try it. You don't need any port configuration to play AND you can connect with as many computers as you have connected to the internet. So far the only issues I see with the new router bypass is not letting win98 users join (bypass still undergoing testing and is optional right now) but I'm sure that will be fixed soon enough.

- For those of you who have been saying "Where the heck is Outlaw?", I've been playing Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (ET:QW) recently. Mostly, I've played on the LAN with Mike_DR and the kids (my stepson Jack_DR and daughter HalfPint_DR). Yes, HalfPint_DR still uses that name, even if she's no longer a small kid. And yes, she is giving her Daddy plenty of gray hairs.
- For anyone wondering what I've been doing in the real world, a friend of mine and I have a diesel engine business selling diesel engines online. Along with that, we've developed an engine controller with internet access. It's pretty cool to be able to start an engine from the internet, and run the RPM up. - I talked to PaleRider_DR tonight, and he said he found his Outlaws CD's today. So, you may see him playing sometime. My daughter and stepson have been playing Outlaws single player some. I'll try to talk them into playing, also.

- I played some Enemy Territory tonight. I always try to find the servers that host the original maps. Anyway, I got my butt kicked most of the time. Got switched to the the Germans after the first map. The Radar map was probably the most fun. I stuck a bunch of landmines around the East radar part. We held on til the end, but ended up losing with 3 seconds left. Those landmines were one of the reasons that we lasted that long though.

- Oops, forgot to renew the deathriders.org domain, so the sites been down for a couple days. Emails sent to me would of been rejected during those couple of days. Everything should be working fine now.
- Wow, I haven't updated this site in almost 2 years. That's bad, even for me. Alot's happened during that time. A partner and I have a diesel engine business going right now. And we've started manufacturing a diesel engine controller that lets you control an engine over the internet. So far, everything has been going well. I've got a link to our website on the links page.

- I haven't play Outlaws in a good while. I've recently gotten married (3 months ago), and haven't found the CD's since the move. I should be able to find at least 1 CD, considering that I have 3 sets of them somewhere. I've been playing Guild Wars lately, but haven't played the player vs player or guild vs guild part of it yet. I started a guild called "Outlaws Death Riders" instead of "Death Riders" because Death Riders had already been taken by the time I started playing the game. If anyone plays this game, let me know. Anyway, I'll show up in the zone one of these days, to chat if nothing else.

- Well, had an interesting night. I finally got on the zone after no telling how long. Got to chat with Tuco_Rattone_DR a little bit, then got a call from my sister... She hit a deer on the way home. She sounded pretty shook up, so I got a ride down the road to where she was (had a couple beers working on laying some water line during the afternoon, so got a ride instead of driving after drinking). Luckily, when she hit the deer, it didn't roll up and hit the windshield. The front of her Jeep looked pretty bad, but at least her and her husband were okay.
  
  She had went to the closest house and called me. All I can say is that Mr. Walton is one of the nicest people around. He let them call me, and after I got there and looked at everything, he allowed my sis to call the cops to get a police report and let her keep the Jeep there. Thanks Mr. Walton!
  
  After the state trooper showed up and made the report out, he gave us a ride home. Heh.. I made sure I rode up front, and let my sis and her hubby ride in the back... When we got to the house, I got out, and they couldn't get the door open... I thought, "hmm...", hehe... alright, I let them out. Don't think that makes me a nice guy though...
  
  >Anyway, my birthday is tomorrow. My daughter got me a birthday card, and gave me a dollar! (USD)... hehe... Well, she's richer than I am anyway :)

- Almost a full year since this site has been around. A good friend of mine let me host this site on this server... Thanks Scott!
- Obviously, I haven't been playing Outlaws lately... Not been online at the zone but a few times this year. I've been pretty busy, though I have found time to play games, just not been playing Outlaws. I re-uploaded this site, I guess, for historical reasons. Either that, or I just wanted to be able to rant/babble on the internet again. The times I been on the zone, I was happy to still see DR's playing (and that includes the ones that don't wear that DR jacket anymore, because you're still a DR to me... only one way out of the gang.. hehe).
  
  To be honest, I haven't played anything online lately. Every once in a while, I may jump in and play some Enemy Territory, but other than that it's been single player games or games on the LAN. Oh yeah, forgot to mention... since the last update, I've added 3 computers and a big table to hold all the computers on. I have them all on the same LAN, so we're able to play LAN games when enough people are around. My original plan was to put my server here too, but I didn't think my DSL connection would be good enough to handle the websites that I wanted to host. Anyway, the sites up again, late as usual... :p

- My apologies for the lack of updates. A couple weeks ago, OGB_Hooter sent me a new version/revision to his map Old Mine. You can get it here. Here is what he says in the readme:
  
  I retextured the entire map because the old texture made James almost invisible. The new texture will hopefully allow Doc to blend in a bit and get some revenge on James for all those games that Doc couldn't see him! Hehehe :{D
  
  When you unzip this, it will replace the previous version of this map, which is what Hooter intended.
- Added Zhunter_DR's picture to the Mug shot page. You can see his picture here. :)
- My brother is supposed to be visiting on thanksgiving week. Some of you may remember him as Inlaw_DR. He chose that name, because him and I are pretty much opposites, hence Inlaw, instead of Outlaw heh. I might be able to get him back into outlaws, since he never really got a chance to play. Of course, this all depends on him actually having a computer, since he no longer has one... Hopefully, we can remedy that next week, or around christmas.
- I hope to start playing regularly again real soon. That's it for the updates, I'll try to update again soon, when/if I can get any news to report...

- The change over last weekend went good. Though, it did take all weekend. There is a bug in FreeBSD's install floppies... If you restart the install, without rebooting, it doesn't handle the install correctly. That caused a few problems, since the server took a long time to resolve DNS initially... Anyway, the change over was painless for the school (painful for me). ;)
  
  Aaannndddd... I'm still working at the school. Waiting on a tape backup to arrive, so I can start backing up their data. Dell cancelled the order twice, with no reasons, and not notifying us. Supposedly, the tape backup will be at the school on Monday (Tomorrow).
- I haven't got on outlaws much since I started helping the school. I did get on the other night, and chatted with Lanky for a while. It's good to see that DR's are still around.
  
  Has anyone tried "Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory?" Want to know if we need to add that game to the list of games the DR plays. See, back in the old days, we were in several games. DR only survived in outlaws, and died in all the other games. So, I'm thinking of adding ET to our list, and I have setup a temporary website at et.deathriders.org. If enough people are interested, I'll start updating that site, and giving other DR's access to update the ET site. Let me know if you are interested in the game. I'll setup our own game server to teach and practice on.
- Almost done at the school, and hope to play all you guys soon!

- I'm still working at the school, and am almost finished. Setting up a new server, then have to reconfigure their other server to handle their email, and web server. I'll probably be doing the actual change over next weekend. After that, I should be around alot more than I have been.
  
  I should of been finished before, but too many things came up, and they still needed me around. Also, had to wait on the new server to arrive, which took alot longer than we anticipated. Anyway, I hope to back real soon, and play some. :)
- The server went down yesterday, during an upgrade on the operating system. Opie had to get the guy in Dallas to reboot the server manually, which he did this morning. And, as you can see, we are back up! :)

- Sorry for not being around lately... Been working alot of hours helping one of the schools get there computers back online. It seems the computer admin quit, with all the computers unable to login and print (3 days after school started). Anyway, I've got them back up and running, and working on getting the M$ XP machines acting like a normal computer, now. After that, I'll spend some time configuring them a new server... Things should die down in a couple weeks, enough for me to play more. Anyway, I wanted to make sure everyone knew that I'm still here, just working a bunch...

- No news in the inbox to report. Hope everyone is having fun... and I'm home early enough, that I'm heading to the zone now :)

- OGB_Hooter has released a new level called Old Mine. I haven't played in a game, but have peeked at the level. Here's the description from the readme:
  
  A cave-in has trapped you in the old abandoned mine! It seems you are not alone inside, as there are other varmints trapped in there with you and they don't seem friendly!
  
  As the description says, the map is the inside of a mine. Looks like a fun map to play, especially for Mary and Sanchez :) You can see a screenshot here, here, and here. Great job Hooter!

- The DR site went down yesterday, or I should say was redirecting to the wrong site. A new site was added to the server that required more configuration than normal, which redirected deathriders.org to the new site (opie's site). Anyway, I changed it up, and everyone's sites on the server should be working fine now.
- I haven't really had a chance to do much with the new level ("Beer for my Horses"), but I hope to get some work on it done tomorrow (or tonite). Mikedakid is still working on getting some custom objects for the level. Really, only thing left for me to do on the level is finish stitching, and fix a couple textures... so, we might release the level next week (I hope).
  
  I did add a screenshot to the Levels page. Or you can check it out here and the water(or beer)tower here. :)
- I still need to redo the levels page. I have some of El_Cobra's levels that still need to be added. I am currently listing the levels by the date that they were created, but will probably just put them in alphabetical order... maybe tomorrow :)

- If anyone has an extra voodoo card lying around collecting dust (and are willing to give it up for a fellow DR), please let me know. _Lanky_DR uses one of those on-board video cards, that aren't usually worth much for gaming. I'm still waiting to find out from Lanky what kind of slot he has for the video card (AGP or PCI).
- Added Mista's Outlaws message board to the Links page. Another good message board that seems to be pretty active.
- Got on the zone last night, but was only able to play one game. My uncle got sick, and we had to take him to the emergency room. Looks like he'll pull through fine, now :)
  
  I did get in a game with GS_stanleyjr and USA_ewdokee in TenTacos, which was alot of fun. Thanks for the game guys! And I'm gonna try to get on the zone as much as possible this weekend...

- XoL_TheRock__ requested that I add their new Outlaws message board to the Links page, which I've done. Looks like a nice message board, and seems pretty active. Check it out :)
- Still haven't had a chance to talk to Palerider about the pictures of the camping trip we went on. I'll have to dig out the scanner from somewhere (back in the corner with a bunch of old computer parts), and scan those pictures whenever I get 'em.
- I've gotten to do a little work on the new message board, and am able to display the threads (kind of). Still some bugs I need to work out in it, then I'll be able to at least post a URL here for everyone to help me test it :)
- I'm still playing outlaws, but been a bit busy. Also, been trying out another game (Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory), which apparently was released at no cost. It's multiplayer only, but it's been fun playing it. Still doesn't compare to outlaws, of course. If anyone else plays the game, let me know. I'd be interested to see how many outlaws players play/have played that game. The game can be downloaded from filefront.com (257Mb).
  
  I've got some work I'll need to do tomorrow (riding lawnmower having problems), but I'll be on the zone (High Noon) sometime, to play some outlaws, after I get done... Hope to see a bunch of death riders there (and other friends) :))

- Worked about an hour on grabbing graphics and setting up a database. Gonna make our own message board, so we don't have to deal with those stupid pop up advertisements on bravenet. It looked like it was going to be easy from the start, but looks like there's going to be more to it that I thought. The main thing is keeping the messages "threaded" correctly. I've modified some stuff, and shouldn't take much more work to get the message board going, time permitting. I'll have it setup at beta.deathriders.org, and will post the url when I'm ready for testing :)
- Mikedakid and I are working on a new level based on a new song by Toby Keith/Willie Nelson called "Beer for my Horses." Palerider_DR and I were sitting around drinking a beer and listening to the song, when Palerider said, "Let's make a map!" hehe... Anyway, since we didn't have any paper handy, he grabbed a napkin and drew it out. I've added some stuff to it, to flesh it out. Mike is working on getting some custom objects and maybe nwx's for the level. I've got the layout done, just need to finish up stitching and laying out objects. The level should be out soon (hopefully) :)
- Thanks to Mr_Bone88 for putting up a link to the DR site on his site. :) If you haven't seen his site, check it out... he's got a nice site. He keeps it up to date (better than me hehe), especially with new maps coming out.

- Been updating the site locally until the server came up, so along with this update there a few more dated when I added them.
- Just got back from my camping trip. Had alot of fun. I may add some pictures of the camping trip, but not sure how many people would be interested in seeing them. They are probably better than last year's camping trip, since Palerider and MsPale were taking the pictures ;)
- Got an email from Tuco_Rattone, and he's still around, just not in outlaws as much. Anyway, that's all I got... going to do some stuff on the server, and maybe get on high noon later.

- Speaking of the members page, while I was there, I did some clean up on it. If I moved someone from the active list to the "not so active" list who shouldn't be there, please let me know and I'll fix it. Since I've been playing alot more now, I'll be able to tell who the active members are... which means I'll need to play on IRC a bit also :)
- Added the Links page. If anyone knows of other links that should be on there, email me the link.
- Also, while I had a chance, I fixed all the buttons on the pages, and got rid of the tourney page, since it really doesn't do us any good.
- I tried out the robots level by WAW_Molycoat last night, and had alot of fun playing it... which is surprising, since I don't usually enjoy mod-weapon games. Good job on the level, WAW_Molycoat :)

- The DR site is back up, after much anticipation... (1 year's worth)
  Thanks to Opie for allowing me access to his server! He's a good friend of mine that allowed us access to his server, with my help to maintain it. If anyone would like to express thanks to him, let me know and I will forward it on to 'em.
- Since the hard drive on the old server died, I lost all the forwards that were setup for member@deathriders.org. If any DR member wants a email address @deathriders.org, send me an email at outlaw@deathriders.org, and give me your DR name and your email address to forward email to.
- The site is still the old site... I will have to go through and update everything to bring it up to date. I'll be doing that within the next 2 weeks.
- I would like to have a DR meeting with all active DR's within the next 2 weeks. Send me an email on days and times that work best for you, please and I will let everone that emails me what day and time to meet :)
- I'll be adding information on what has happened with me soon... if anyone else would like to submit what has been going on with them, please email me and I'll post it to the site. Until I see everyone again, good shootin' :)

- ok.. ok... I haven't updated the site in a very long time. I'm supposed to be working on a script that will allow the council to start updating the site. I hope to start on it soon. It looks like it would take alot of time, but I haven't really started on it yet. I did look at some other options, like news daemon (www.daemonnews.org) and slashdot's engine (www.slashdot.org). They look acceptable, but not what I really had in mind. So, I will probably need to write it myself. If there are any DR's with some PHP experience, please email me. I can write the whole script myself, but it would be nice to have help ;)
- I added a new page to the site. The council has had several meetings, and I wanted to share Pah's "minutes." The site is located here.

- Old age creeping up on me, again. Hard to believe I keep forgetting to post this. The Death Riders are 4 years old this month! :)
  
  Wow... It's hard to believe it's been that long. It's amazing the changes that have went on around us during that time. Makes me think back to all the friends I had in the old days. Heck, some of those friends still play Outlaws hehe. Amazing...
  
  I look at the Death Riders today, and see that we haven't changed ;) We still have the same beliefs... Sure, the faces have changed, but the way we play, and the way we interact is still there. We are still the individuals that comprise a gang, instead of just another gang. I still see those great attitudes :) As Dusty_DR put it, everybody you see with a _DR after there name is part of a bunch of lighthearted individuals, always on the lookout for fun :)

- I got to play a pre-release version of PahPah_DR's DR map. Hooked up with ewdokee_DR, _Hog_DR, PahPah_DR, Starmaster_DR, Tuco_Rattone_DR, VooDooChild_DR, Zhunter_DR. The pictures that Pah has put up are really good :) I can't wait to see the release :) Not only that.. the map was alot of fun to play. I finished somewhere in last, but I was laughing most of the time :)

- PahPah_DR is currently working on a map for the Death Riders. Here is what Pah had to say:
  
  I'm working on a new map for the Deathriders. It's going to be called..... "The Deathriders".
  Much of the texture will have action pictures of the character you use most with your deathrider name stamped on it. (i.e. Outlaw will have a picture of James with his name stamped on it.) I want to use those of you that are active.My plan is to post this map only on the Deathrider Webpage and update it as we get new members or lose old members. It will be kind of an active members list map. (Hehe...... hopefully Outlaw will make it easy on me and get that list updated on the web page. Maybe this will give him a boost.)
  
  They ask.......... So why are you rambling on about this? Get to the point!
  
  I need you to send me your DR alias and your favorite outlaw character and I will create a picture for you in the map.
  
  If this works the way I hope it will, I'll post a message similar to this on the Web page Forum too. It should turn into a living ever changing map. Most Deathriders seem to dislike mod weapons so I'll stay standard with the weapons but most likely use it to experiment with textures. It will keep Outlaw busy updating it unless he gives the council members access to help do updates.

- BamBam_DR has released a new level called Psycho. You can see a screen shot here. If you look at the "james" dead on the left side of the screen, you will see how my attempt at flying went ;) Download the level or you can get it from the download page. Great job on the map, Bam!

- PahPah_DR has released 2 new levels. One is Hoeville, which I thought was pretty cool. I wasn't ready for the little surprise that was waiting for me hehe... The other level is Slide. It's kinda like paperbag, except you are on ice. I look forward to playing it with a few people and watching bodies fly ;) Anyway, check out those levels. You can also get them on the Levels Page :)

- Woohoo!! Website is back up ;) The move went without too many problems. Other than the only U-haul I could find was a 14ft'er... I haven't checked my email yet. Waiting for all the email to propogate to the server from the back up mail servers. I'll check later and see if I need to post anything. I'll try to be on Outlaws sometime this week.. not sure yet. Lots of stuff to play catch-up with at work. Anyway, maybe I'll have an update later on this evening.

- The Deathriders website will probably be going down sometime next week. I'm not sure how long it will take to move it and get it back up and running. Worse case scenario, we'll probably be down about a week.
  
  For those of you that don't know this yet, the company I work for is relocating me to a new area. That's mainly the reason for the server going down. Look at it this way, there will be an update when I bring the website back up ;)
- This is kinda late, like most of my updates. BuffaloFred_DR has left DR. Good luck, Fred, and I'll be shootin' ya soon :)

- Anyway, just to keep up with the DR server news, I've upgraded the server to the latest release of FreeBSD. Fixed some security issues and such. Of course, it couldn't have went without a hitch. The other site that I host on this server, www.ozarksoft.com, went down (It's the site I host for my father). I thought someone was working on it for me, but they got side tracked. Didn't realize it was still down til yesterday (upgraded the server on Thursday). Since I was out of town this weekend, he wasn't able to get a hold of me. He saved it all up for when I got back hehe... Anyway, as far as I can tell, everything else is up and running.
  
  At this point I need to let you guys know that there is a possibility that I will lose this server temporarily. If that happens, I'll either find a host for the website, or I will have to host it locally on DSL or cable. I'll try to put a notice up, if the site will be down for a while (before it goes down, hopefully).
- I know I've not been on the zone very much. And I know that last sentence was an understatement. I've been putting in alot of hours at work, and working on family/friends computers when not at work. Once things settle down, I should be back again. Not sure when that will be though.
- Ok... Updated the levels page with PahPah's secure version of Armageddon. I know most of you guys probably already have it. I think Pah emailed me about it on April 4th...

- PahPah_DR has released 2 new levels called Armageddon and Anguaish (in honor of Angua). You can download them from the downloads page or download Armaggedon and Anguaish from those links :)

- Ok... I finally updated the site (first time this year). My apologizes to everyone. If I forget anything, please email me so I can make sure I get everything in this update. Mike wrote a tutorial for lawmaker, and I'll be posting that soon. There's some graphics work that needs to be done to it.

  Well Here I am, I have had some requests as to who I am :)) But really IM Just an old James that just like's his rifle and when the bullets run dry, then sit back with my 6 shooter till the cow's come home. heheh I have not had as much time as I would like to play these days but I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things soon.... I have not had the time either to do a little bio on my self but those who know me will know I'M a sniper at heart and not a bad two stepper in a gun fight. - Well, I finally got DSL, and can actually connect/host games now. Which means, I'm back :) I still haven't been on much... mainly due to work and friends who have needed help with their computers. I was over at PaleRider_DR's house the other day, helping him get his computer working again. We got everything working, and hopefully, as time permits, we'll be seeing PaleRider playing again. I think he's going to order DSL pretty soon :)
- Looks like I'll be going to the OL Bash in Memphis, Tennessee, in July. For information on the OL Bash click here. There is, also, another OL Bash that will be held in Canada (I'm going to try to make it to that one, too). I don't have the URL for that website yet, but when I get it, I'll post it here.
