- I finally downloaded the trial version of paint shop pro 7 from the jasc website yesterday. So, I updated Mike's picture. I also added Tuco_Rattone, ewdokee_DR, and Angua_DR to the mug shot page. I went ahead and divided the page up into 2 sections, so that it would be easier to load.
- Last nite, about 2 a.m., I upgraded the DR server again. They released a new version of FreeBSD, so I had to upgrade. ;) The upgrade went smoothly, and everything looks like it's running fine.
- If anyone starts receiving any spam with their deathriders.org email address, email me and let me know. I'll block them ;)
  Which reminds me... If you don't have your @deathriders.org email address, let me know and I'll set it up for ya.
- The SYN are back it seems. Or semi-back. They put a new SYN site up at http://www.stormpages.com/syndicate/ :)

- As some of you already know, Dusty_DR has returned to the Outlaws scene. Welcome back Dusty!
- Tonite, I installed some software on the server that handles mailing lists. I set one up just for the Death Riders. I figure it would be pretty cool to be able to send one email, and reach all the subscribed DR's. The mailing list is for DR members only, so I had to set it up where I authorize any subscriptions to it. To subscribe to the DR mailing list, you send an email to majordomo@lists.deathriders.org, with a blank subject, and in the body of the email, put: subscribe dr .
  
  I've put up a site at lists.deathriders.org that I'll use to give updates, and post all other mailing lists I want set up. Give it a try, if someone doesn't like being on the list, it's easy to unsubscribe. Even easier, if you tell me to take you off the list :)
  
  I haven't subscribed anyone to it but myself. This is strictly voluntary (as always). If anyone has any questions about it, feel free to email me at outlaw@deathriders.org

- I got in a game of Outlaws, last nite, and had alot of fun. I played Paperbag with Angua_DR, ewdokee_DR, Hitman_DR, PahPah_DR, and StarMaster_DR. It was pretty funny... lots of tnt and lots of ppl flying hehe. :)
- I was going to post ewdokee and Tuco_Rattone's pictures on the Mugshot page, but have realized that I don't have any graphics programs installed on this computer. I will download something, resize the pictures and post 'em, tomorrow.
- Added a profile for ewdokee that was written by ewdokee. I was impressed :) Mosie on over to the Profiles page and check it out.
- OGB_Hooter sent me a couple of his new crosshairs yesterday. I'm posting them on the Hints, tips, and stuff page. Or, if you are lazy like me, here are the links... Outline crosshair and the Square crosshair. Check them out :)
- I'm in the process of setting up another website. It will be projects.deathriders.org (Not currently up). I've got several programs/scripts to write, so I thought I would dedicate a URL to it. One of those programs is the one that will automate the DR news area, along with other places on the DR site. I'm hoping that I can get alot done with this. If there are any programmers around, let me know if you are interested in helping. I'm probably going to release the source as open source with a BSD License type set up. Not sure yet, considering there is already plenty of programs that do this (just not what I was looking for).
- I'm also looking at setting up a "Hotmail" type setup for DR members. The only problem is the current server that I have can't handle it, even with the low traffic that we would use on it. Right now, it's barely able to handle the websites and mail going across it. I had planned on upgrading the hardware in the server, but moving to my new place, with deposits everywhere (even had to pay the squirrels), upgrading is not an option right now. Currently the DR website along with www.ozarksoft.com (my Dads site) is being hosted on a Pentium 120 with 84 meg of RAM and a 1.6 meg hard drive. Once I can upgrade to a faster cpu, more memory and more disk space, we can have a setup like Hotmail has, just for DR's. It will happen, just not in the very near future. But, Real Soon Now™.

- Ok... I'll, hopefully, be adding a few things to the website, Real Soon Now™. I'm looking at posting the DR council minutes and setting up the site to let the council update it. I'm still settling into my new place, and just now got the phone line in. Once I get the computer room setup, and everything done, I'll be able to concentrate more on this site, and playing Outlaws.

- I'm in the middle of a move, so I don't expect to be on much for a little while. Once I get settled in to my new place, I will be able to update and setup the scripts that will be needed to keep it updated regularly.

- Just in case ppl have been wondering, I've been around hehe... I've been hanging out in IRC lately. They got a ladder that I've been playing in. As of this writing, I am ranked at 14 (waiting on Mike to catch up and beat me) and sKiTz_DR is ranked 8. As I said in a previous post, if you are interested in joining the ladder send an email to ladder@ol.hispeed.com with your name that you want to be known as on the ladder.
- Sadly, Blazin_DR has left the Death Riders. He is currently in WAC, known as WAC_Blazeolero. Good luck in the new gang, Blazin! :)

- wow... long time since an update. That will be fixed soon :) Because I don't get on as much I used to, I've decided to start a council. Currently, we are still working out all the details. The council will have the ability to update the website, so that we don't have to rely on what little time I've had to dedicate to the site lately.
  The current council is: PahPah_DR, Tuco_Rattone_DR, Starmaster_DR, Shotgun_Sam_DR and myself. I will put a page up to post the minutes of each meeting for all the Death Riders to view. I would like as much input from all the members on this. :)

- I meant to post this bit of news on the first of this month. Things were pretty busy at work, so I've not been able to post it. The Death Riders are 3 years old this month! :) Happy Birthday hehe...
- There is a new ladder that has started in IRC. They had the tournament for initial placement last Sunday. I lost the first round lol.. lost to SoL_Unforgiven 10-9. It was a real fun game hehe. Anyway, I ending up starting at #26 on the ladder. If anyone is interested in joining the ladder they can email ladder@ol.hispeed.com.

- I upgraded the operating system on the server yesterday. Updgraded it to the most recent Stable version of FreeBSD. I had to upgrade the server due to some possible exploits. Everthing went smoothly, except about 11:45 that nite, we had the power flicker pretty bad. The power supply on the server automatically shuts down when it gets too many power surges.
  
  I had to go back in at 2:00 a.m. last nite to work on some upgrading of other servers(left at 4:00am). Unfortunately, I didn't realize the DR server was down until this morning(when I came back to work again) about 10:30. Anyway, it's back up hehe...

- I'm currently working on a new level, called The Ozarks. It will probably be primarily a CTF map. I'm going to try to have it out this week :)
- I've not had a chance to look at Hooter and sshep's new maps. In fact, was told yesterday, that sshep has another map published. I'm going to work on putting up a page for reviews. Gonna call it Mike's Reviews hehe... you got it.. MikeDaKid_DR is going to start reviewing levels hehe. So, if you want a level reviewed, email MikeDaKid with any requests. :)

- Some friends of the Death Riders have completed some new levels. They both look good so far. I'm going to try them out tonite.
- OGB_Hooter has released his first level, called Hooterville. From the screenshots I've seen, he did alot of work on it. Including, stitching it correctly :)
- GRS_sshep released a level called Gold Rush. I've not got a chance to play it, but it looks to be a good map :)
- As I said before, I'm going to check them out tonite, but I think both are going to be great maps. I'll post my thoughts on them here. Other than that, no more new news hehe ;)

- I've been pushing IRC lately, just in case you haven't noticed hehe.. The tourney next Sunday is going to be an all sanchez DM tourney. Basically, the maps for the tourney will be revealed at 1:00 central time, which is when you can also enter the tourney. When the tourney starts, at 2:00 central, the brackets will posted to a website. You can see who you are supposed to play. Normally, the DM tourneys are played to 10 kills.

- I've been looking around, and finally got the link for Outnet(by lindow). Outnet is basically a script that helps joining games much easier than the traditional IP method. You can download it at www.outlaws.simplenet.com/outnet.htm. Here are is a brief decription from the #Outlaws_Players website(the link I just gave):
  
  OutNet 2 is available for people that already use mIRC to chat with or play in the #Outlaws_Players channel on the Undernet. If you already have mIRC just download the script and install it in your mIRC directory and load the script by typing /load -rs outnet.mrc
  After it is loaded you can right click on the channel window or select Outnet from the Commands dropdown menu. Configure Outnet by selecting the "Outnet Config Button" and entering the directory where Outlaws is installed and the Nickname you wish to use in the games.
  
  Of course, you need to install mIRC first. You can get mIRC from www.mirc.com.
- Well, I've been looking around at the other sites, not much news going on today. Of course, you guys seen yesterday evenings post eheh.. (psst... just in case you didnt, Mike and GRS_sshep won the teams tourney yesterday)

- I have an update from PahPah_DR that, again, I'm late on. Pretty soon, I will have an interface set up for updates, so if I start slacking on updates, others can make them for us. Anyway, on to Pah's updates:
- For all you snipers.....
  PFH_TenTacos has created a new map called Strip Mine. This map is equivalent to the Los Caza map but with a new twist. The map will appear on Paleface's site sometime in the near future for all to use. It was created at Starmaster_DR�s request and beta tested by he, Bootshine_DR, and PahPah_DR. They all give high praise for the map. Good job Ten!!! You can find it at ftp://ftp.paleface.net/maps/stripmine.zip
- MikeDaKid_DR is creating a new map along the same lines at PahPah_DR�s request. It is partially done and has been given it�s first test by MikeDaKid_DR, GuldaKat_DR, Starmaster_DR, Shotgun_Sam_DR, and PahPah_DR. They say it�s lookin� good. When completed, the map will be named Armageddon. If it lives up to it�s name it will be an interesting map to say the least.
- Ok.. That's it for Pah's update. Remember there is a teams tournament today at 2:00 in IRC. Sign up for the tourney starts at 1:00 central time. When you go to #Outlaws_Players in IRC and want to join the tourney, type !enter. I'll be there :)

- Surprise! An Update hehe... As sshep put it, I've been slacking. I've been kind of busy, and when I'm online, I've been playing Outlaws. I reinstalled Windows a couple days ago, and am now downloading updated drivers. I'll be on the zone or IRC tonite, for sure though hehe...
- MikeDaKid has released a new map called Garbo Land in honor of Garbo(from IRC). It's a small map, and looks to be alot of fun. Just don't mind all the blue flowers ;)
- I don't think I've posted this here in a while. IRC has a Outlaws tournament every Sunday at 2:00 central time, run by Garbo. You'll normally see her in IRC as GarboTalk. You can download mIRC from www.mirc.com. Then you join "#Outlaws_Players". If you decide to join the tourney, join the Outlaws_Players channel by 1:00 central time, then type !enter .

- Well, we are on our own webserver now. And thanks to our system admin we got the mail server up. I've already set up Ringneck_DR with his own @deathriders.org email address. Basically, as I posted before, I'm going to set up mail forwarding to a email address that you specify. So, if you want a @deathriders.org email address, let me know what email address you want it forwarded to :)
- I hope the DNS is working now. I had to change some DNS information earlier today, due to another domain that I'm putting on this machine. It should work though... www.deathriders.org kept it's IP address that was assigned to it yesterday. I'll probably have to take the server down tomorrow some time, to do some checks and piece it back together hehe... ;)

- The Death Riders website may be down tonite and tomorrow. I'm transfering the website to it's own web server. Once I have that complete, I will be able to implement the mail server, also. So, if it's down, don't worry ;) I will try to make the transition as smooth as possible. :)

- I've not updated in a while, but, I actually have news to post. It's just a bit late hehe.. but, here it is:
- WAC_Blackyolero has released his level, Winners Circle. Fun game. You can get it here. Here are the rules from the Text file:
  
  PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY
  
  "Winner Stays In" a twist on the classic team, and introduces a new way of playing Outlaws, called "WINNER STAYS IN". In "WSI" play, only one player from each team is in the dueling arena at any given time. If you continue to kill the opponents that come your way, you carry on playing. Simple as that. When you die, you will respawn back in the "gallery", which is the waiting area that surrounds the map, overlooking the action. This gallery is a safe haven, invisible to the players in the arena.
  
  To begin the game, just decide which player on each team is to play first. At the agreed time, those player access the arena via one of two tunnels available. You'll pick up the weapons you need as you enter. "Winner's Circle" does not support the Deathmatch option, so a time limit should be set when hosting.
  
  The essence of the "Winner Stays In" style of play is that a team game can be broken down into a series of 1 on 1 duels, with each team player attempting to "hold the floor" for as long as possible. In this respect, players on the same team can compete against eachother as well as against the opposition. We see "Winner's Circle" being used for some of the more serious and long-standing team rivalries.
  
  GAMEPLAY TIPS:
  
  Get a run going if you can. It's very possible to "Stay In" for ten or more straight kills if you use the map wisely. As a viewer, be sure to watch the action closely.
  When your partner dies, choose between jumping in immediately to take advantage of a weakened opponent or viewing their movements from the safety of the gallery for a moment and catch them off-guard. In the event of the latter, please be considerate of others waiting their turn :)
  
  I've had alot of fun playing this level hehe..
- OGB_Martone has finished his latest level called BellyAcres. It's a fun level to play. On the roof of the building, there is also a Super TNT item. Watch out for that hehe...(speaking from experience). Martone has put up a funny introduction page here (With download link). lol.. had me rolling. Martone, as always, has put out a excellent level. :)

- I got an Email from PahPah_DR the other day. I thought I might share it with the rest of you. I thought it was rather funny hehe... Here it is:
  
  Had a joke played on me last night. Chances are you'll hear about it from others. So I just wanted to bring you up to snuff.
  
  I logged on and several people started to ZM me talking about MahMah_DRbeing online. At first, I thought they were just taunting me. Come to find out, someone was logged on as MahMah_DR. My first thought wasSweetcheeks....
  
  I joined the game this imposter was in and played against "her". I wanted to remain cool and calm about it. Before going off on this person I wanted to see what the deal was. I was sure it was a joke but didn't know how far it would go and to be quite frank, hehe, there isn't much we could really do about it other than whine and complain that someone was wearing a DR badge without permission.
  
  Ends up, it was Mhzman and his wife PMS_Cramps playing a joke. (If youdon't know them, they're a fun couple that lives in Canada.) After shooting up Mhzman who was playing MahMah_DR, he had to quit, so he gave the controls to his wife. I kept shooting the imposter and saying, "NOT the Mama!!!" It ended up pretty funny and all who knew me online got a good laugh out of it.
  
  Dunno if you ever saw the dinosaur show where the baby dinosaur kept hitting his dad with some huge object saying "NOT the Mama, NOT the mama!!!" But that's where I got the saying from and it fit.
  
  Pah has been plotting revenge on Mhzman hehe... Mhzman beware ;)
- I had a chance to help WAC_Blackyolero test his "soon to come" level. Very nice level... I think it will become the next dueling map. Teams are cool. I will not ruin it for you guys hehe.. Check it out when he publishes it :)
- Well, the planets are lining up... I guess it means I better play some Outlaws ;)
